2009 is now two days old! Make this a great year for yourself and everyone in your life! Enjoy the week-end coming up. Next week-end you’ll be thinking about semester tests! And speaking of semester tests, my plan is ro review a few ideas every day–rather than try to cram it all in next week. What do you think about that?

Semester test prelim info….

101–your semester test will be to read aprompt and repond similar to your exit exam.

Lit Survey–your semester test is concept based which means you don’t need to know minutia about each selection we’ve read.

English 9–yours would also be mostly concept based.

There have been two extra credit posts available for you/all classes. I’ll keep the extra credit available through Monday. If you need to do it at school, don’t forget to ask for a permit to the lab or the library.

Hello All! Merry Christmas! I hope your Christmas Day was a happy one. I know many of you will have more family events to attend and maybe, even a few more presents. My family had had a wonderful holiday and we are all so happy to be together.

So–here’s extra credit #1–tell about a tradition in your family–something you always do/where you put something/foods, etc. OR tell a bit about your vaca so far.

English 9–no new assignment

Hi All,

I hope you had a safe trip home today. Quite a bit of snow! Early Out is time that doesn’t need to be made up. I still hear an occasional student remark “We get five snow days”. Well-yes and no. We can utilize five days to reschedule classes canceled due to weather. However, the time we reschedule is added to the projected last day of school. So–they aren’t free–they are rescheduled. However, if you are a senior–usually, graduation is set and we don’t ask you to return after you have received your diploma! Speaking of diplomas, in early January the Cap/Gown company will be here to take your orders. This includes announcements,etc. Amazing-isn’t it–time flies!

Hello All,

Don’t panic–no new assignment EXCEPT this–don’t forget to remember (that sounds funny doesn’t it?) your parents on Christmas. Whether you have the cash to buy them a present OR not–that doesn’t matter. Remember to remember them. Here’s my list of ideas that I will add to over the days ahead.

1.Time–plan some type of outing/event/activity with them. Don’t wait for them to plan it–you make the plan for them and give them advance notice. As corny as it may seem–getting together for a board game/cards/taking a walk would mean tons to them. TIME is a great gift you can give your parents.

2. Gift Certificates–sure, those are great. One for your parents to go out and eat or car wash tokens! Again–the thought behind it means the most.

3. What could you make? A book/CD rack or shelf? A wreath? (I have an easy one you could make for $2.00 and it is super easy and cute with peppermints=ask me) A CD of their favorite songs? Holiday music? Can you sew? knit? build things?

4.What could you FIX? This would be a great present. Is there something at your home that you could fix on your own? What about cleaning? Everyone loves to come home to a clean house–esp the kitchen!

5.Write a letter! As a parent–nothing means more–to know you are loved and appreciated.
