January 6th, 2009Almost everyone took the ZERO and ONES timed tests today and scored a 30! When you score 30 that means you go on to the next number the next day. Tonight most of you need to get serious about memorizing the twos. Here is an old fashioned match game using the multiples of two:

Feel free to go back and revisit some of yesterday’s games too.
Monday, January 5th
January 5th, 2009The multiplication fun is about to begin! One of the best ways to memorize a set of facts is to learn the multiples of that number. We will start with zero, then 1, then 2. After you click on this link, scroll down to the game called Egg-Static. Here’s a great game, with a farmer and some eggs, that will help you memorize the multiples of each number, and test how coordinated you are at the same time! Tomorrow we will do multiples of zero. So get ahead of the game and work with multiples of 2. This game is funny!
ONE THOUSAND COMMENTS!!!
January 4th, 2009Each day as I log on to our website it tells me how many comments have been made up until that day. I can’t believe my eyes! Today we are almost up to 1,000 comments! You kids have really done a wonderful job of staying in tune with what is happening in our classroom. I am going to be giving out a prize for our 1,000th visitor! That candy machine hasn’t had much use lately, so our 1,000th visitor will find what they need for 3 visits to the candy machine. It might be you! If it’s one of your parents maybe they will let you bring the prize home to them.

January 2nd, 2009The reality of returning to school is almost upon us. Do you remember that we will be having our chapter math test on the day that we return? The test was scheduled back when the weather got crazy and we decided that you could use the extra time on Christmas break to practice telling time. Here are the things that you will need to know on Monday morning:
1. Telling time to the exact minute on a number clock
2. Elapsed time
3. Understanding A.M. and P.M.
4. Knowing more than one way to say times (for example 10:50 is also ten minutes before 11)
5. Knowledge of half past, quarter after, and quarter till
6. Understanding days and weeks on a calendar
7. Reading a schedule and figuring out elapsed time
8. Getting information from a time line
I know that you all have your books at home. Please use e-harcourt. There are many resources online to help you practice. Remember our class motto!
New Year’s Day Word Search
January 1st, 2009Word finds are fun to do, but I have never done one on the computer. When you find a word within the word search you click on the first letter and drag your mouse through the rest of the letters. It will automatically cross off the word that you found. There is a time limit. If you are able to do it within the time given please leave your name as a comment. I haven’t been able to do it yet, but I am going to keep trying. When I do, I will leave my name.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
December 31st, 2008I know you will all try to stay up until midnight tonight to see the start of 2009. Here’s a little thinking job for you…..I saw this on TV this morning and we will be doing this when we get back to school. You can get a head start. Think of 3 words that best describe 2008. Think hard, and ask your family. It can be about things that you did, your family did, or things that happened to the whole world. Sort through the list you come up with and pick out only three, and then add those three words to this post. I will give you my three words…..but you can’t use mine. I can’t wait to hear what you come up with!
