We only have a few days left of First Semester. I’ve attached a copy of the exam schedule for you. I will be editing it as necessary, but this first draft will give you an idea of what is coming up. Semester 1 Final Exam Schedule
Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2009! I hope you all had an enjoyable break! I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces on Monday, January 5th!
“The Odyssey”
So, we’ve begun the epic poem, “The Odyssey” from the poet, Homer! What do you think so far?
GOT ZEROS?
Hey Guys! I graded a bunch over the weekend and I had at least 12 papers with no name on them! If you are certain you turned something in, but you have a zero in the gradebook, check the GOT ZEROS? clip on the white board. Beginning second quarter I take one point off each time you forget to write your name so let’s get in the habit now.
Thank You!
I really enjoyed meeting all of the parents and grandparents that were able to attend Open House. It’s always fun to tell your families how wonderful you are!
Open House
GHS Open House is Monday, September 8th from 6:30-8:30. Stop by and introduce me to your family! ![]()
Grading
A couple of important items:
1. If for some reason you do not turn in an assignment (whether you were absent the day it was due, or just have not turned it in yet) the grade will show as a ZERO and missing until you turn it in and it is graded by me. If you have questions about the late work policy, please reread your syllabus or talk with me.
2. If you see a * on your grades, this simply means that I have not yet graded the assignment. It does NOT mean you have a missing assignment (see #1 above).
3. If you ever see a mistake on your grades, let me know IMMEDIATELY (either in person or by email). I am pretty good, but I’m certainly not perfect. :-) I will fix the mistake right away and if it’s something that has affected everyone (like I put in the wrong number of points possible) you may even earn a point of extra credit for bringing it to my attention first!
Supplies
Remember that you need ALL of your supplies for English by Tuesday, Sept. 2nd. ![]()
