First of all, congrats to all of you for doing better on your division timed tests this week! Two of the classes did A LOT better. Well done!
I can’t wait to see what next Friday will be like!
Only three more days of this quarter and then we’re into the last quarter of your fifth grade year. It feels like it is going by so quickly! Since this is the end of the quarter, that means we are almost done with these extra credit questions. You’ll have two tonight, one Monday night, and then one Tuesday night. Do your best on them and try to get all the points!
Here are your 2 weekend questions:
1. Rae takes 18 minutes to walk to school. It takes Lynn 13 minutes longer than Rae. How many minutes does it take Lynn to walk to school?

2. The front of a tent is the shape of a triangle. Two angles of the triangle each measure 40 degrees. What is the measure of the third angle?

TOMORROW IS HIPPIE DAY! I can’t wait to see some hippie’s!
Just a quick reminder before we get to the question for tonight – tomorrow is your division timed test, so make sure you practice for it! I hope that every class will meet their goal. You can do it!
We worked a little more today on tessellations. Sometimes it can be hard to make sure there are no gaps when creating a tessellation. Here are a couple of examples of tessellations.

Can you see both the white dogs and the black dogs? How neat!
Your extra credit question for tonight:
Order the following decimals from least to greatest: 6.19 , 6.175 , 6.198

It was good to see you all in green today! I also saw some yummy green treats!
Today we did some more work with solid figures. I think you’re all getting the hang of this!
I found this picture online and thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice to paint the classroom walls in geometric figures?” Then you could look at geometry every day

With this picture in mind, here is your question for tonight:
What three quadrilaterals are painted on the walls in the picture above?

*5-F* I extended the book order deadline to tomorrow. If you want to order anything, you still have tonight to ask your parents!
Today we spent some time learning about solid figures instead of just polygons.
Take a look at these buildings that were designed using geometric figures. They are pretty neat looking!

Do you notice the two cylinders?

This is one of the Egyptian Pyramids. Can you tell how it got it’s name?

Here is another building designed like a pyramid.

This one has all sorts of geometric figures! Pretty cool!
And now onto your math question for the night:
What solid figure am I describing? It has one base and the base has 3 sides.

I was so excited to see that there were 51 responses to the weekend question! Great job!
The answers to this weekend’s questions were:
1. 70,000 (I also accepted ten thousands place)
2. three hundred five thousandths
You can look at the weekend’s comments to check and see if you answered correctly.
Now, for tonight’s question:
On Thursday we talked about the different kinds of transformations (translation, reflection, rotation). Which transformation means that the object flipped?
Good Luck! I know that you know it!

**** REMINDER - I forgot to remind you, but next week is march madness! Monday is Western Day, so wear your western clothes. If you see anyone from class, let them know!
Also, Dylan, you are the star of the week next week, so bring pictures if you read this
****
If you’re reading this, that means you’re probably hoping for some math extra credit! Great! Remember to check back here each school night to answer a new question.
Since we don’t have school tomorrow, here are two different questions for you to answer. You’ll get one extra credit point for each one you get correct.
Keep working on those division facts as well!
Here are your two questions for the night:
1. What is the value of the digit 7 in 275,000?
2. What is the word form of 0.305?
Think hard and try to get them right! You’ll find out on Monday how you did.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I can’t believe that there is only one more day left in our school week. It has gone by so fast!
A few things to make sure you get done for class tomorrow:
*Try to finish your biography notes. Since we don’t have school on Friday, we are going to start writing the reports tomorrow.
*Do your math worksheet & study your facts for the division timed test! Let’s help the class get to this week’s goal!
*Finish coloring your noun town for tomorrow
*Study for your spelling test tomorrow
*And lastly, don’t forget to finish your chart for social studies.
That is a lot to remember, but I saw that a lot of you were able to finish a couple of things at the end of the day today. Good job!
Tonight’s Question:
Since we were working on quadrilaterals today in math, what type of quadrilateral is this?
It has 2 pairs of congruent angles and 2 pairs of congruent sides. None of the angles are right angles, and the sides are not all the same length.
Paige has been a great photographer this week. Here are some pictures from today:
Working hard in math class!

You are creating some very detailed noun towns in class. I’m very impressed! Remember to have them finished and colored by Thursday.
Here is an example of Jordan’s noun town!

Your biographies are also starting to come together. You have chosen some interesting people that I am excited to learn about from you. Try to get all the information out of your book that you can by Thursday. Tomorrow we’ll be working in the computer lab to find more information online.
Tonight’s Question:
Will informed us today about another Earthquake that happened in Turkey. It was a 6.0 in magnitude. That is still a big earthquake! So your question is…What continent is Turkey on?
Below you will find some pictures that Paige took during math.

It was nice to come to school today and not have to take a test, wasn’t it?
A couple of things to remember for this week
- Thursday you get out of school an hour early
- Friday you don’t have any school!
- Book Orders are due March 16th (next Tuesday)
- Practice your division facts for Thursday this week!
Now for your nightly question:
What property is this? 3 x 7 = 7 x 3
Here are a couple of pictures that Paige O. took today in class:

You forgot to open your eyes Freja!

You are all working so hard on your graphs…

What a good looking class!

I hope that you all had a relaxing day because you deserved it!
Make sure to look below at the pictures from the science experiment today.
The weekend Question…

I know it is a hard question, but let’s see if we can get 15 of you to answer!
