Mr. Pardoe's Picture
I grew up in Yuma, Co., a small, rural town in northeast Colorado with a population of about 2,500 people - the local economy is strongly based on the farming of winter wheat, corn, and soybeans.  I had about 65 kids in my graduating class, which was about average for the school.  I participated in football, wrestling, and baseball while in high school.  Our claim to fame is Steve Jones, 1996 U.S. Open PGA Golf Champion.

After graduating from high school, I chose to go to Graceland University (at the time it was known as Graceland College).  It ended up being one of the smartest choices I have ever made.  I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 years (yes, 5 - I changed majors from Accounting to Business Education after 3 years), and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a small college to go to where you can have intimate contact with your professors, as opposed to being a number in a classroom like you might be at many state schools.  I played baseball for 4 years (and was a grad assistant during my 5th year), and I also played football for my first 2 years of college.

After graduating with a B.A. degree in Secondary Business Education, I was hired in the summer of 1993 by Geneseo CUSD #228, where I am currently still employed.  I started teaching at Geneseo High School, and in my 13 years of teaching at the high school taught the following courses: Marketing, Management, Intro to Business, Keyboarding, Accounting I, and Accounting II.  Three years ago I  taught one section of 6th Grade P.E. in addition to my high school duties. In 2006 I moved full-time to the Middle School and have taught Computer Applications to 7th graders since then.

In addition to those responsibilities, I coached Junior High football for my first 7 years in Geneseo.  I also coached wrestling at the Junior high for one year before moving to the high school and working as an assistant coach for the ensuing 12 years.  Starting in 2000, I became the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at the high school, a position that I still hold.

In 1996 I started working on a Master's degree in Educational Administration through Western Illinois University, and finished in the summer of 1999. I have since earned an additional 32 hours of graduate credit. Those hours have been earned in various areas, but those that I have taken most recently include Beginning Web Design (HTML coding), Advanced Web Design (using Dreamweaver), Introduction to Programming (using the Alice and Logo programming environments), and C Programming. My plan is to next earn a second Master's degree, this one in E-Learning and Online Teaching.

Some of my favorites are as follows:

Author - Terry Brooks (Shannara series - there are 15 books total)

TV shows-

  • Seinfeld

  • Cheers

  • Movie - it is very difficult to pick just one, as I like to watch movies. Here are some of the ones that I love to watch:

    • The Princess Bride - "That's inconceivable!"
    • The Blues Brothers - "Who wants an orange whip? Orange whip? Orange whip? Three orange whips!"
    • The DaVinci Code
    • Scrooge
    • Mission Impossible - "RED LIGHT - GREEN LIGHT!"
    • The Incredibles
