Welcome parents! You can find information regarding how your son or daughter can help themselves be successful in school, upcoming Computer Application assignments, meal menus, check their grade status (for all classes), vocab lists, and other additional information. In addition, you can click on the school motto in the top left hand corner and it will take you to the Geneseo School District website. In the Computer Applications class, the majority of the first 9 weeks will be learning how to key properly. This will be difficult for some - this is a skill just like playing an instrument or playing a sport - it requires proper practice. To find out what I expect from your son or daughter in terms of how they practice (whether at home or at school) click on the "Technique Sheet" link to the left (this is a pdf file that you can print out at home for your personal use). If your child needs help outside of the regular classroom time I am in my room (706) at 7:45 a.m. in the morning, every morning with the exception of one (I have morning duty every Thursday so I will not be available on that day). If that will not work students usually can ask for a pass from their homeroom teacher and come in during Channel One and work for approximately 15 minutes. If he or she has REAL, and I do not have a class during that hour, they are also encouraged to come down and work in my room. In addition, during the 1st semester and for part of the 2nd semester, coming into my room after school will also work (I coach baseball in the spring, once the baseball season starts in March having students come in after school does not work out for me). If your son or daughter is struggling, I highly encourage you to use these times in order to make the best effort possible to improving your keyboarding skill. If you click on the "Vocabulary" link on the left side you will have access to each of the vocabulary lists that we will be covering in class. Generally we go over each list at the beginning of a week, and then have a quiz over the vocabulary at the end of the same week. Please take advantage of the online access to our weekly vocabulary lists! Lastly, there is an extra credit link on the student webpage. I am not a big believer in extra credit - my feeling is that all students are capable of attaining proper grades if they are being productive during class time. However, I have made this concession. I try to post a new extra credit question every week. If your son/daughter has need of extra credit, please check here first. This is the only extra credit that will be given. |
