Technology at Geneseo Community School District 228
I created a model of cloud storage that can use either SAMBA, WEBDAV, or AFP and can also connect and disconnect from a customized share all contained within the app itself. Currently most of these programs cloud share reside on a 3 terabyte storage array so data limits are not an issue. Secondly I built into the app itself the login credentials and connections inside of the locked script so it is self-contained and simple, no logins, no accounts needed – just the app. Finally since this app references a storage array within our network at the school district the program only uses our WAN connection when users are outside of the network. All the shares are accessible from on and off district locations it is just during primary business hours it is better to have all data flow internally rathter then hog our WAN connection.
The template I developed can now easily be modified to create customized cloud storage shares for individuals, groups, departments, admin, etc. Each contained app connects to a specific share. I have thought of expanding this idea further to individual teachers for backup purposes. Feel like you need to backup your documents, open your app drag to the share and hit disconnect. Also easy to use in a student setting as an assignment dropbox, need to turn in your assignment just open the Assignment Dropbox app and you are done.

To give a better look and feel to app I also created a simply image DMG installer. Not really necessary for all but it can be helpful for some users to get the program copied to the correct location.

If anyone is interested in the script I am using shoot me an email or comment and can provide.
Also Cool GHS Share icon was created by GHS Teacher/Artist Logan Hamilton.
