The Original 13 Colonies

  • February 19, 2010 11:10 am

Chapter 6 in Social Studies discusses the original 13 colonies.  Students learned about the climate, views on slavery, economic conditions, and everyday living.  Throughout this chapter, students worked together in “regions” to write a readers’ theater script to teach the rest of the class about their particular region.  Below are some pictures of our fabulous performances!

Multi-modal Autobiography

  • January 10, 2010 2:37 pm

In reading we have been discussing biographies and the difference between a biography and an autobiography.  This week each child will be creating their own autobiography using skills in reading, writing, and technology.

Before Thursday, each child needs to have a minimum of 5 pictures (one per slide) turned in to me to be inserted into their slide-show.  The pictures can be on a disk, e-mailed, or a regular picture that I can scan.

The final product for this project will be a DVD that you can watch at home!  I can’t wait to see how creative the children are.

Please e-mail me with any further questions.  A note explaining the details will go home on Monday.  : )

I found a great website for map skills, as well as other SS concepts.  Check it out!

Within the same site is a great place to help prepare for the reading test on ISAT!  You can read a passage and answer questions!

Snowman Alert!

  • December 9, 2009 11:09 am

If you are one of the lucky ones to create a snowman in this terrible weather, or anytime this winter, please e-mail me a pic of it so I can post it!

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

  • December 6, 2009 9:03 pm

Please remember to send snow pants and snow boots with your child if and when the snow falls!  We DO go outside for recess as long as the temperature is above zero.

Please send me any pictures of snowmen that you and your family create–I would LOVE to post them to my blog.
