The product code of spherical graphite is composed of product name, grade code, median diameter, fixed carbon content and tap density, that is, SG-grade code-D50-fixed carbon content-tapped density. Example SG I -17-9995-95 refers to SG spherical graphite, grade I, D50=(17.0m±2.0m), fixed carbon content ≥99.95%, tap density ≥0.95g/cm.

In the process of spherical graphite processing, the higher the carbon content of the raw material, the higher the cost, but the carbon content of the raw material is too low, the number of times of the spherical graphite purification process increases, the degree of equipment wear increases, and the total cost also increases. Accumulated by experiments, raw materials with a carbon content of 95-96% have the most economical overall cost. In the process of spherical graphite processing, there are also requirements for the particle size of raw materials. Too coarseness will cost more, too fineness will affect the yield of spherical graphite, and too many auxiliary products will increase the cost of raw materials. Studies have shown that it is most suitable to use raw materials with a particle size of -100 mesh to produce spherical graphite.

In the production process of spherical graphite, the natural flake graphite powder is firstly pulverized into a suitable particle size, and then de-angularized to form an ellipsoid or similar spherical shape. The fine powder peeled off during the process is separated, and the normal distribution of spherical graphite can be obtained.
