What is boron nitride

Boron nitride (BN) is a crystal composed of nitrogen and boron atoms. It has four different variants: hexagonal Boron nitride (HBN), RBN, cubic boron nitride (CBN) and WURtzite boron nitride (WBN). Among them, the CBN structure is similar to diamond, with a hardness only lower than diamond, but its high-temperature resistance is better than diamond; while the hexagonal boron nitride structure is similar to graphite, which is a very practical lubricant. The lower covalent nature of boron nitride makes it a semi-metal with lower conductivity than graphite, and electricity flows in a network of Pi-chains in its hexagonal flakes.The lack of color of the hexagonal boron nitride shows a low electron ionization, indicating a large energy gap.
Applications of boron nitride
